Scryway

Mercury in the 7th house

The 7th house: Partnership, marriage, close one-to-one relationships, and open opponents.

Mercury in the seventh house means your mind comes alive in dialogue. You often think best with someone across from you, testing ideas against a partner, colleague or friend. Conversation may be central to your closest relationships, and you may look for partners who are clever, talkative or interesting to argue with. You can be skilled at negotiation, mediation and seeing both sides of a question.

Learning tends to happen through other people. A good teacher, a lively study partner or a client with a puzzling problem can teach you more than any book read alone. You may be drawn to work that involves advising, consulting, counselling or representing others, where your quick grasp of what someone needs is an asset.

The shadow side is relying on others to finish your thoughts or to tell you what you think. You may adapt your opinions to whoever you are with, or keep relationships at the level of talk while avoiding deeper feeling. Disagreements can turn into debates that you win and still feel lonely after. What helps is forming your own view before you ask for input, and listening for what a partner means as well as what they say.
