About the Two Paths spread
The Two Paths spread is built for a choice between two options. You name both paths, then the cards show what the decision is really about, what each road holds, what you are not seeing, and which way the reading leans.
It is most useful when you are stuck between two good options, or two bad ones, and need to see them side by side rather than go round in circles.
The positions
- 1Where You Stand. What is the real question underneath the choice?
- 2Path A. What happens if you take the first road?
- 3Path B. What happens if you take the second road?
- 4What You Are Not Seeing. What is shaping this choice from below the surface?
- 5Advice. What should you do about it?
How to lay it out with your own deck
- Name your two options before you shuffle. On this site you can type them in so the reading uses your words.
- Lay one card at the top for where you stand.
- Below it, lay Path A on the left and Path B on the right, with what you are not seeing between them, then a card of advice at the bottom.
- Read the two path cards against each other first, then the others in their light.

How to read it
- The where-you-stand card often shows the real question under the choice. Sometimes it reveals that the choice is not between these two options at all.
- If both path cards are hard, the reading is saying the problem lies upstream of the decision. Look at the hidden card.
- A path card that is bright but reversed is a good option at the wrong time, or approached in the wrong way.
Questions
- Can tarot help me make a decision?
- It can lay the options side by side and show what each one asks of you, which is often what is missing when you are stuck. The decision stays yours; the reading is a way of thinking it through.
- What if I have more than two options?
- Pick the two that matter most, or do the reading more than once, comparing options in pairs. More than two paths in one spread tends to blur the answer.
