Sun–Moon synastry
When one person’s Sun and the other’s Moon are joined by a major aspect. It reads the same whichever person has which.
Conjunction (0°)
The two points together, blending.
One person’s Sun lands on the other’s Moon, a contact long valued in chart comparison because it joins purpose with feeling. The Sun person tends to light up what the Moon person needs, and the Moon person often responds with warmth, comfort and a sense of being at home. Together you can feel like a natural pairing of drive and care. The balance needs watching, though. The Sun person may lead while the Moon person adapts, and over time the Moon person’s moods can be overlooked, or the Sun person may feel responsible for the other’s comfort. Check that care flows both ways, that the Moon person’s needs are spoken rather than guessed, and that the Sun person’s plans make room for rest.
Trine (120°) and sextile (60°)
Harmonious contacts: ease, or an opening that rewards effort.
Your Sun and their Moon, or the other way round, sit in friendly signs, so what one of you wants and what the other needs tend to fit. A trine brings this easily; a sextile asks for a little effort to make the most of it. Daily life together often runs smoothly: the Sun person’s energy reassures, and the Moon person’s responses feel supportive rather than demanding. Many families, friendships and working partnerships are steadied by this kind of contact. Its weakness is that it can be taken for granted. Comfort may stand in for real conversation, and small grievances can sit unspoken because things seem fine. Keep checking in, especially when one of you is going through a change.
Square (90°) and opposition (180°)
Challenging contacts: friction and attraction that ask for work.
Here one person’s Sun and the other’s Moon are at odds, so what one of you is aiming for may unsettle what the other needs to feel safe. A square tends to bring everyday friction that asks for adjustment; an opposition can feel like a tug of war in which you each embody what the other is missing. The Sun person may seem too busy, bright or directive; the Moon person may seem too sensitive or changeable. None of that is a verdict on either of you. This contact can teach a great deal about how purpose and feeling fit together. It helps when the Sun person slows down to listen and the Moon person says clearly what would help, rather than waiting to be understood.
