Moon–Venus synastry
When one person’s Moon and the other’s Venus are joined by a major aspect. It reads the same whichever person has which.
Conjunction (0°)
The two points together, blending.
One person’s Venus sits on the other’s Moon, a contact of gentleness, affection and mutual comfort. The Venus person tends to soothe and delight the Moon person, and the Moon person often responds with care and loyalty. You may share tastes in home, food and small pleasures, and simply being together can feel easy. In a close relationship this adds tenderness; among friends and family it brings warmth and kindness. The shadow is avoidance. Both of you may prefer harmony so strongly that problems are smoothed over, or indulge together rather than face something uncomfortable. Let the affection be sturdy enough to hold honest disagreement.
Trine (120°) and sextile (60°)
Harmonious contacts: ease, or an opening that rewards effort.
Your Moon and their Venus, or the reverse, sit in friendly signs, so affection and comfort tend to come easily. A trine brings a natural fondness; a sextile grows when you make room for shared pleasures. The Venus person often knows how to make the Moon person feel cared for, and the Moon person tends to appreciate and return that care. Homes, friendships and close relationships can feel pleasant and companionable. The main risk is that you keep things nice at the expense of honesty, or drift into comfortable habits that stop either of you growing. Treat each other kindly, and include difficult conversations in that kindness.
Square (90°) and opposition (180°)
Challenging contacts: friction and attraction that ask for work.
When one person’s Moon and the other’s Venus are at odds, there is often real fondness alongside a sense that you are slightly out of tune. A square may bring friction over comforts, spending habits or ways of showing care that needs sorting out; an opposition can feel like a tug of war between what one needs and what the other enjoys. The Moon person may feel the Venus person is superficial; the Venus person may feel the Moon person is needy or moody. Neither is quite fair. The contact asks you to learn each other’s ways of giving and receiving affection, and to accept that comfort and pleasure are not always the same thing.
