Fox

Meaning

Be alert. The Fox is cleverness used for one's own ends: a trick, a falsehood, someone looking after themselves. In many modern readings it is also the job, the daily work done to survive. It asks you to check the details.

As a person

Someone shrewd or self-serving; a colleague.

In combinations

First in a pair, the Fox names a trap, a falsehood or the daily job. Second, it describes the card before it: something that is not what it seems, or self-serving.

• Snake + Fox: Double caution: deception or manipulation is likely.
• Fox + Anchor: The job: steady daily work, or a job that needs watching.
• Fox + Letter: A misleading document; read the small print.
• Dog + Fox: A false friend; loyalty that serves its own interest.

As a house in the Grand Tableau

Position 14 is the house of the Fox. Caution: work, tricks and what needs checking.
