Meditation guide
The meditation tools are a timer, a breathing pacer and a private practice history. They do not teach a particular tradition, and nothing here needs a recording: every bell and background sound is generated by your browser.
The timer
- Length: set minutes, or choose open-ended and finish when you like. An optional preparation period comes before the starting bell and is not counted as practice.
- Bells: a singing bowl, a small bell or a wood block to start and end, plus optional interval bells, either every few minutes or at random moments within a range you choose (a common mindfulness reminder).
- Background sound: deep, soft or white noise, or slow waves, each with its own volume, separate from the bells. Silent mode turns all sound off and keeps visual cues; vibration is available on devices that support it.
- Presets: start from one of the built-in ones, or save your own for sitting, walking, mantra, visualization, contemplation or anything else.
- During a session you can pause, resume, end early, or cancel. Paused time is never counted, and a cancelled session is not recorded at all.
What a web timer can and cannot do
Bells are scheduled on your device’s audio clock as soon as a session starts, so they stay on time even if you switch tabs. But some phones pause web pages, and their sound, when the screen locks or a call comes in, so a bell can be late or missed there. Keeping the screen on (an option in the timer) and keeping the page open give the most reliable result. If a reminder bell fell due while the page was asleep, it is skipped rather than played late.
The timer measures practice time from timestamps, not by counting ticks, so the count stays right after the page was suspended or reloaded. If the page spent time in the background, you are told how long and choose whether to count it: the timer cannot know whether you were practising.
The breathing pacer
A circle grows as you breathe in and shrinks as you breathe out, with optional soft tones, vibration and a count. Patterns include even breathing, longer out-breath, box breathing, or your own counts. Breaths are 2–10 seconds and holds at most 7 seconds: intensive breathwork and long breath-holds are deliberately not offered. It is a practice tool, not a treatment. If you feel light-headed or uncomfortable, stop and breathe normally.
Your history
- Each saved session records the practice, the measured time, the planned length, pauses, and any time in the background.
- You can add a check-in before and after (how settled you feel), a note, and whether the session was preparation for another practice such as a tarot reading or a remote-viewing session. That is kept as context only; Scryway does not suggest that meditating changed a result.
- Log by hand for practice away from the timer, and correct a duration later. Hand-logged sessions are marked as such, and a correction is shown beside the measured time rather than replacing it.
- Days follow the time zone you practised in. Runs of consecutive days and a weekly aim are optional and can be turned off. Your history is never compared with anyone else’s.
- Notes are optional. A session with a note also appears in your journal; nothing is ever required after a session.
- A session finished offline, or before signing in, is kept on your device and added to your account later. Each is saved once, however many times it syncs.
Coming later
Guided meditations, talks, courses, music and sleep content need recordings with clear rights for text, performance, recording and offline use. They will be added as properly licensed or commissioned material becomes available; they are listed on the roadmap.
