burden · duty · belief · hardship

Meaning

A weight to carry. The Cross is burden and duty: hardship, responsibility, a test of endurance. It is also belief and meaning, what makes a burden bearable. It tends to mark something as fated or unavoidable, to be carried through.

As a person

In combinations

First in a pair, the Cross names a burden, a duty or a test. Second, it describes the card before it: something that is heavy, dutiful or a matter of faith.

  • Anchor + Cross: A duty that ties you down; staying out of obligation.
  • Cross + Sun: Hardship eased; a burden lifting into success.
