Sun–Venus aspects

How the Sun and the Venus relate when they are joined by a major aspect in a birth chart.

Conjunction (0°)

The two points together, blending into one.

Your identity and your capacity for pleasure, beauty and affection are woven together. You may come across as warm, likeable and drawn to harmony, with a natural eye for what looks, sounds or feels good. Relationships, art, style or simply making a space pleasant can matter a great deal to how you understand yourself, and you often lead with charm rather than force.

The shadow side is a wish to be liked that can blur your own preferences. You may avoid conflict too readily, or feel that your worth depends on being admired. Indulgence and comfort can also tempt you away from harder goals. Learning that you can be valued while disagreeing, and that kindness includes honesty, turns this gracious blend into something steady and generous.

Trine (120°) and sextile (60°)

Harmonious aspects: an easy flow, or an opening that rewards effort.

Venus never moves more than about 48° from the Sun, so a trine cannot form and even a sextile is out of reach. Their relationship in your chart is best read through any conjunction, or through the signs and houses each one occupies. In general, the Sun shows what you are here to express and Venus shows what you love and find beautiful. When they share a sign, your values sit close to your sense of self. When Venus falls a sign or two away, what attracts you may differ slightly from your temperament, which can broaden your tastes and soften your edges. Either way, the pair stay close companions.

Square (90°) and opposition (180°)

Challenging aspects: friction that asks for action, or a tug of war often felt through others.

A square or opposition between the Sun and Venus cannot form, since Venus never travels more than about 48° from the Sun. Any tension around love, pleasure and self-worth will show through other parts of the chart instead. In general, these two describe who you are and what you value and enjoy. When Venus sits in a different sign from the Sun, your way of relating or your taste in beauty may have a different character from your core drive. Noticing that difference can help you understand why certain people or pleasures draw you, even when they do not seem to match the rest of your nature. That contrast can enrich your relationships.
