Neptune–Pluto aspects
How the Neptune and the Pluto relate when they are joined by a major aspect in a birth chart.
Conjunction (0°)
The two points together, blending into one.
A Neptune–Pluto conjunction happens roughly every five hundred years, and none has occurred in living memory: the last fell in the early 1890s, so it will appear mainly in historical charts. Symbolically it would join Neptune’s dissolving, dreaming quality with Pluto’s drive to break down and renew, describing an era in which collective beliefs and deep structures are remade together. Because it lasts for years, it describes a generation rather than one person. Those born under it would be read as carrying a new cultural or spiritual seed, with both visionary promise and a real risk of shared illusion. In any individual chart, its contacts to personal planets and angles would matter far more than the aspect itself.
Trine (120°) and sextile (60°)
Harmonious aspects: an easy flow, or an opening that rewards effort.
For most people born since the mid-twentieth century, Neptune and Pluto have been held in a long sextile, so this aspect describes a broad span of generations rather than anything personal. The sextile needs a little effort to use, while a trine would flow more freely, but the shared background is a slow cooperation between collective dreams and deep transformation. It can show as a widespread interest in psychology, spirituality and inner change, and a sense that the hidden can be explored rather than feared. The gift is a cultural readiness to heal and reimagine. The risk is that such a common backdrop goes unexamined. On its own it says little about you; contacts from your personal planets to it say more.
Square (90°) and opposition (180°)
Challenging aspects: friction that asks for action, or a tug of war often felt through others.
No square or opposition between Neptune and Pluto has occurred in living memory, so this aspect will usually appear only in historical charts, where it describes a generation rather than one person. Symbolically the square works as inner friction that demands action, the opposition as a tug of war felt through others and events. Either would describe an era in which shared ideals and the forces of power and renewal pull against each other: faith may clash with upheaval, or collective dreams may hide struggles beneath the surface. A generation born under it would be read as needing to separate genuine vision from manipulation, and to find meaning amid deep change. Contacts to personal planets would show how strongly an individual felt it.
